Kuraray Poval™ K – the PVA with carboxyl groups

Kuraray Poval™ K – the PVA with carboxyl groups

Kuraray Poval™ K grades contain carboxylated polymers that are available for cross-linking. They exhibit better hydrophilic properties than conventional polyvinyl alcohols. Kuraray Poval™ K polymers have very good solubility in water and high affinity to hydrophobic substances such as polyester and polystyrene.

Water-resistant finishing for high-quality paper

Kuraray Poval™ K grades have excellent solubility in water and alkali as well as affinity for hydrophobic substances. That makes these polyvinyl alcohols ideal for use in the paper industry, as dispersing agents and in the production of adhesives. Coatings with these PVA materials give paper far more effective barrier properties than conventional polyvinyl alcohol polymers. What's more, they improve water resistance.

Improving the efficiency and quality of textile production

With their excellent water resistance and very good compatibility with other water-soluble polymers such as starch, the Kuraray Poval™ K grades have many advantages in textile finishing. If they are used in sizes, they give yarns a protective coating - for more efficient production processes and top quality.

You can benefit by using Kuraray Poval™ K in your applications - in the paper, adhesives and textile industry. Kuraray sets global standards as one of the leading PVOH producers.
